Max Bupa announces the fourth edition of ‘Walk for Health’
· First of its kind, multi-city 30 day walkathon
· 12 Olympic Walkers to walk the Walkathon
· With ‘Walk India Walk’ as theme, Max Bupa encourages entire nation to adopt healthy living through Walking
Mumbai, December 15, 2015: Continuing with the commitment to help people lead healthier and more successful lives, Max Bupa Health Insurance today announced the fourth edition of its flagship event, Max Bupa Walk for Health. The resounding success of its annual event over the last three years has encouraged the company to go beyond the two-city format and explore a first of its kind unique four-city, XX towns, XX villages format. The Walk will commence in Mumbai on 10th January 2016, touch upon Pune and Jaipur to finally culminate in Delhi on 14th February 2016. This will see participation from 12 Olympic Walkers who will walk the route over 30days. Initiated in 2012, the previous three editions received an enthusiastic response from over XXX participants across India.
Over the last three years, the initiative has garnered support from a number of celebrities, politicians, health and fitness enthusiasts, social activists and sports personalities like Sania Mirza, Shilpa Shetty, Sonam Kapoor Anupam Kher, Neha Dhupia, Anurag Kashyap, Kunal Kapoor, Shobha De, Dino Morea, Smriti Irani among others. Also a host of leading brands like Fitness First, Cafe Coffee Day, Yakult among others have been associated with the annual initiative.
The last edition of Max Bupa Walk for Health saw wide participation. XX% of participants in Delhi and XX% of their Mumbai counterparts chose to walk with a partner or in a group someone, reflecting the underlying preference of people to walk with their loved ones. The trend was common across different age groups. The focus of Max Bupa Walk for Health 2016 will be to sustain and increase participation from all walks of life, including working and non-working group, with the objective of inspiring them to live healthy, live happy.
Talking about the fourth edition of Max Bupa Walk for Health, Ashish Mehrotra, MD & CEO, Max Bupa said, “Walk for Health has been our flagship initiative to inspire healthy living among the Indians. Over the last three years we have seen a lot of enthusiasm among people in the Walk cities of Delhi and Mumbai. The positive uptake in these two cities has encouraged us to take the Walk to more cities. Our theme for this year, Walk India Walk, is our call for action to whole of India. We want to motivate the entire nation to take up healthy habits, urge them to be more alert towards their health, be responsible towards the environment, adopt to walking, reduce carbon footprint and make a healthier nation for ourselves and for our future generation.”
“This year 12 Olympic Walkers have joined our cause. Through them we aim to mobilise XX people across the four cities and in the intermediate towns and villages that the Walkers will walk through,” added Ashish.
