What is the Claim Process for Travel Insurance in Thailand?
Emergencies do not look for a time or place to strike, so it is always essential to remain carefully confident. To ensure this confidence, it is essential to remember the claims process when opting for travel insurance. In India, each insurance provider might have a different process to request for a claim.
To make it easier for you to understand how to claim a settlement with Niva Bupa, here is all you need to know. These are the steps you can take to request a general claim.
- To raise a travel insurance claim, you need first to contact your insurer.
- In case of overseas travel, you may also contact the global Third-Party Administrator.
- You can raise a claim online, through mail, or even physically. You can do so both while overseas or when you return to India.
- You must submit a duly filled claim form along with the required documents based on the type of claim—for example, loss of baggage, trip cancellation, medical emergency, or death.
Besides this, you can make two types of claims in a medical emergency.
Cashless Claims
- In case of emergency hospitalisation, contact Europ-Assistance (a 24/7 emergency contact number and email address are available on our website) within 48 hours of admission.
- An authorisation letter will then be shared with the policyholder specifying the sanctioned amount that will be issued. In that letter, all details will be specified, including if there is any limitation on the claim, applicable deductible/co-payment, and non-payable items, if applicable. There might also be a rejection letter mentioning the reason for the rejection.
Reimbursement claims
- In case of hospitalisation, contact Europ-Assistance (24/7 emergency contact number and email address are available on our website) within 48 hours of admission.
- You must pay directly to the hospital and collect all relevant documents (invoices, medical reports, discharge certificates, etc) in originals.
- You must send scanned copies of these documents along with a filled & signed claim form (available on the website), ID proof, Address proof, Aadhaar Card, and age proof to Europ-Assistance.
- A decision will be taken based on these documents. They might be approved, rejected, or requested for additional information.
- The claim will be settled and reimbursed per the policy terms and conditions if approved.

Thailand is a country that offers Visa on Arrival to Indian tourists, allowing them to enter with minimal issues. Recently, the country has also removed any restrictions, including the mandate on travel insurance, although they still highly recommend it for travellers.

The tourist visa offered when opting for a Visa on Arrival only applies for 15 days. If you wish to stay longer than 15 days, you must apply for a tourist or non-immigrant visa beforehand. The tourist visa allows for a maximum of 60 days with an extension of up to 30 days
