The Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana, now known as Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY), was initially introduced by the Maharashtra State Government in July 2012 and was renamed on April 1, 2017. The primary objective of MJPJAY registration is to offer cashless healthcare services to beneficiaries who require hospitalisation for severe illnesses covered under the scheme.
MJPJAY extends its coverage to include COVID-19 treatment for people. The maximum health insurance plan provided under the scheme for the family amounts to ₹1,50,000. For the MJPJAY registration, you can follow these steps:
- Visit the nearest general, district, women, or network hospital and approach the Aarogyamitra (healthcare facilitator) to begin the application process.
- The Aarogyamitra will provide you with a health referral card, which should be presented at the network hospital when seeking recommended treatment.
- If you do not possess a ration card, you may need to provide an orange/yellow card or Annapurna Card as an alternative form of identification.
- After the necessary verification, the hospital will proceed with the treatment and initiate the admission process.
- There will be an e-authorisation request sent to the health insurance companies.
- Once the authorisation request is approved, cashless treatment will commence.
- The hospital will submit the original bills and necessary documents to the insurer for claim settlement. The payment will be made to the hospital after reviewing and approving the documents.
- After being discharged from the hospital, you will have access to diagnostic services and free consultations at the network hospital for 10 days.
Procedure for Registration of the MJPJAY Scheme
You can visit the government health facility and assistance from Aarogyamitra after applying for the MJPJAY patient registration form card. The Aarogyamitra will guide you through the process of getting the MJPJAY health card.
Apart from the ration card, certain KYC (Know Your Customer) documents will be required for verification purposes. These documents may include:
- PAN card/Voter ID/Aadhaar card/Nationalised bank passbook with a photograph
- Driving licence/School/college ID
- Passport
- Handicap certificate
- Tehsildar's stamp on the applicant's photograph
- Get photo ID proof issued by the Indian government
- Senior citizen card
- Freedom Fighter ID card

How to Claim the Benefits?
The process for availing benefits under MJPJAY is as follows:
- Diagnosis and Pre-Authorisation: If a medical condition is diagnosed at an empanelled hospital, the insurance company will send a pre-authorisation form to initiate the treatment process. In case the diagnosis occurs at a non-empanelled hospital, the Aarogyamitra at the hospital will provide a referral card for treatment at a network hospital.
- Treatment Commencement: Once the hospital receives approval from the insurer, the treatment will commence as per the recommended course of action.
- Document Submission: After the completion of the surgery or treatment, the hospital will provide all the necessary documents to the insurer. These documents may include medical reports, bills, diagnostic reports, discharge summaries, and other relevant paperwork.
- Claim Approval: The insurer will review the submitted documents and approve the claim accordingly.
- Post-Hospitalisation Services: Following the discharge, you will be able to avail post-hospitalisation services for up to 10 days, as per the guidelines of MJPJAY.
