Corona Kavach is a policy that addresses your basic health insurance needs arisen on account of the global pandemic. If you're concerned about Covid-19's medical expenses, this policy is a good option. It pays for your hospitalisation expenses for Covid-19 treatment, such as hospital room rent, nursing costs, surgery costs, specialist fees, and other expenses.
The sum insured for the Corona Kavach policy ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹5,000,000, so you can select the appropriate amount based on your individual or family needs. This blog will discuss the benefits which are covered under this policy and other factors which are excluded from it.
Inclusions
This policy is a comprehensive health insurance plan designed to provide comprehensive coverage to individuals and families against the financial burden of medical costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy provides coverage for hospitalisation and home care treatment, including inpatient hospitalisation, day-care treatments, home-care treatment, and domiciliary hospitalisation. Here’s a list of inclusions under the Corona Kavach plan:
Inpatient hospitalisation
This policy is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and need to be hospitalised. The policy provides coverage for medical expenses incurred during the hospital stay, including doctor’s fees, laboratory tests, and medications.
It also offers protection from financial losses due to the treatment of COVID-19. This includes coverage for medical expenses incurred during the hospital stay, as well as any additional expenses incurred due to complications. The policy also covers any income lost due to the inability to work due to the illness.
Homecare treatment
It includes services such as nursing care, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Home care is often recommended for individuals who are unable to travel to a hospital or health care facility. It provides a safe and comfortable environment for healing and recovery at home. Home care services provided under the Corona Kavach plan are covered up to a fixed sum insured amount.
Inpatient AYUSH treatment
Under the this policy, the Government of India provides financial assistance to those requiring inpatient AYUSH treatment. This assistance covers the cost of hospitalisation, medicines, and other necessary medical expenses related to the treatment. The policy also covers the cost of any additional care that may be required, such as homoeopathy, Ayurveda, yoga, and other traditional forms of treatment.
Pre-and Post-hospitalisation
Under the policy, pre-hospitalisation expenses are covered for up to 30 days from the date of hospitalisation. These pre-hospitalisation expenses include diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests, etc., doctor's consultation fees, drugs, etc.
Post-hospitalisation is the period after hospitalisation, which includes the medical expenses incurred during the recovery period. Under the policy, post-hospitalisation expenses are covered for up to 60 days after the date of discharge from the hospital. These post-hospitalisation expenses include follow-up consultation fees, drugs, physiotherapy, etc.
Hospital daily cash cover
The Corona Kavach policy provides daily cash cover of up to ₹1,000 per day, for a maximum of 15 days. This amount is paid to the insured person on a daily basis, during the hospitalisation period, for expenses such as food, transportation, personal hygiene and other miscellaneous expenses.
Exclusions
All health insurance policies have exclusions. Certain exclusions apply to this insurance policy. These include, but are not limited to:
Claims for a diagnosis made prior to the policy's start date.
OPD claims.
COVID-19 tests performed privately rather than at a government-approved facility.
Coverage terminates if a person travels to a restricted country designated by the Indian government.
Parting Words
The Corona policy is a great option for individuals seeking financial protection against hospitalisation costs due to Covid-19. The policy provides comprehensive coverage against hospitalisation expenses and other miscellaneous expenses, and is a great way to safeguard oneself and one’s family against the financial burden of Covid-19.
