Highlights
Being healthy entails not just being physically fit, but also being mentally and emotionally fit.
A healthy lifestyle should be a daily priority for you. It can help you avoid chronic diseases and long-term ailments.
Self-esteem and self-image are aided by feeling good about yourself and taking care of your health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and several other health organisations sponsor World Health Day observed every year on April 7. It is celebrated by all of WHO's member states. The proverb "Health is Wealth" holds greater weight today than it ever has before. Despite increased life expectancy, the incidence of critical diseases has increased, and it is up to health organisations and individuals themselves to reverse this trend.
With "health for all" as the theme for this year's World Health Day, WHO and other organisations are focusing on ensuring that individuals who cannot afford health services have access to them. According to a WHO survey, roughly half of the world currently lacks access to healthcare services. Approximately 100 million people are forced into poverty each year due to medical costs.
WHO's goal is to make sure that health coverage reaches 1 billion people by 2023. While health groups and world leaders fight to ensure that all people have access to health care, we can all do our part to take a step toward a healthier lifestyle.
Here are Few Tips
1. It's Important to Eat Healthy:
What you eat determines who you are. Rather than pre-packaged or ready-to-eat foods, simple, home-cooked meals will keep you away from harmful ingredients that give you excessive empty calories and ramp up cholesterol.
A healthy diet should include plenty of fruits and vegetables and a well-balanced supper each day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, because that is when you break your fast. So it should never be overlooked. Skipping breakfast might make you hungry, causing you to consume more calories through the day than necessary.
The first step toward a healthy lifestyle is to start your day with a nutritious meal. As an added benefit, your day will be more productive. Eating your meals on time also helps cut down food cravings at the wrong times.
2. Regular Eercise Is Required:
Exercise and nutrition are like two sides of the same coin, and you can't ignore either if you want to stay healthy. Remaining physically active and keeping up your spirit requires at least 30 minutes of physical activity three times a week.
3. Stress Must Be Managed:
In the twenty-first century, when the world has become hyper competitive, stress has emerged as the new enemy of mental and physical health. Everyone is subjected daily to stress in some form; therefore, understanding how to manage it is critical. Yoga and meditation can assist in stress reduction. Indulging in hobbies and laughing with your loved ones are also fantastic stress relievers.
4. Sleep Is Essential:
You may not be able to follow the circadian cycle because of your employment. But at the very least, get yourself 6-7 hours of restful sleep daily. Sleep is essential for your body to regenerate and repai while it prepares for the next 16 hours of productive activity.
5. Health Checkups Are Important:
'Prevention is better than cure,' as the saying goes, and frequent health checkups are critical. They will not only keep you informed about your health and fitness, but will also throw up early warnings about any potential health risks.
These examinations allow your doctor to plan your treatment in the event of any health issues. Typical tests include blood pressure levels, cholesterol levels, glucose levels, BMI, dental checkups, and cleanings, and checks for breast abnormalities in women.
Conclusion
Mankind has been making tremendous progress in the medical sciences, which has resulted in increased average life expectancy and development of successful treatment methods for many severe diseases. Universal health care, on the other hand, remains a faraway dream that the WHO and other organisations are attempting to realise. Take a personal promise to follow these measures on World Health Day and begin living a healthy and happy life.
