One big flip side of going to a gym is that it becomes monotonous over a period of time. Using the same equipment or meeting the same people can wear you down. It doesn’t come as a surprise why many people quit the gym in the first few months. What you need is variety when it comes to exercise and health. This means picking up new exercises or fitness regimen. One of the best ways to get your health mojo back is by doing Aerobics.
What is Aerobics?
Aerobics is any form of physical exercise that is done at continuous intervals with varying intensity, which results in better respiratory and circulatory function of the body. In other words, these are exercises that get your heart pumping, blood flowing and skin sweating.
It is an extremely flexible form of exercise, which is a combination of cardiovascular exercises, stretching and strength training. It is mostly done with fast-paced music, which just adds to the fun. Actually, it feels more of dancing than exercise.
Here are different kinds of exercises
Dance to the Aerobic Beat
Full of fun, energy, rhythm and beats, dance aerobics is a quick and effective way to lose your body weight and tone your muscles. It is a combination of various dance forms and exercises that are high in intensity but require less time. Perfect for those who face the time crunch. It improves your cardiac health as well as the cholesterol levels.
Dance aerobics includes Zumba, hip-hop aerobics, jazz aerobics, and our very own Indian - Masala Bhangra
Step It Up With Step Aerobics:
This form of exercise involves using a platform and stepping on it to perform various intensive exercises. Though it is high intensity, it has a low impact on your joints and muscles. This exercise is beneficial for the lower body as it means toning your thighs, calves and feet.
Low Impact, High Results
Exercises that don’t have a high impact on your joints usually fall in low-impact aerobics. This includes walking, swimming, jogging and cycling. Though these exercises have a low impact on your joints, they have a high impact on your health as they improve blood circulation and improve cardiovascular health. That’s because they are done over long intervals. At the same time, they tone your large muscle groups. These exercises are best suited for senior citizens, pregnant women and obese people.
Kickstart Your Aerobics
Kickboxing is not just what you see in those Asian movies. It is a wonderful form of art as well as exercise to lose weight. The kicks and punches increase adrenaline as well as tone your legs and arms. Just one session of kickboxing makes you feel alive and energetic. It also enhances your flexibility and adds definition to your muscles.
A Word Of Caution
Before starting these exercises consult your physician as aerobics can be a high-intensity workout affecting your joints and cardiovascular health. If you feel discomfort for prolonged periods, stop these exercises and consult a specialist.
