Necessary Criteria for Passport Form Filling
Filling out a passport application is a detailed process. Before accessing any services on the online portal, you need to register on the Passport Seva portal and create an account. Once registered, log in with your username and password and follow these steps:
Choose the Service You Require
From the available services, select either the re-issuance of a passport (passport renewal) or a new passport. For renewing your passport, you will need to provide a reason from the following options:
Exhaustion of pages in the passport booklet
Passport validity lapsed within three years or is about to expire
It has been more than three years since the passport expired
The passport has been damaged
You have lost your passport
You wish to change or alter personal details in your passport
If you need to change any personal details in your passport, inform the Passport Office of the reasons, such as:
Change of appearance
Change in name or surname
Birth date
Signature
Address
Adding or removing the name of your spouse
Deleting ECR
After choosing the relevant option, select your application type: Tatkal or Normal. Then, choose the booklet type—either 60 pages or 36 pages. Finally, select the required passport validity. For minors aged 15-18, parents can choose either 10-year validity or until the child turns 18. For adults, passports are typically valid for up to 10 years from the date of issuance. For minors, validity is limited to five years or until they turn 18, whichever is earlier.
